One thing I love most about 1300 Fillmore is the live jazz band during Sunday brunch. It's always a great experience. Their bottomless mimosas are quite tasty, so if you're not careful you'll end up stumbling once you stand up. Dinner is also a treat. I especially love the risotto. The ambiance is dim enough that it's great for date night, yet cool enough for friends night out. I've also been to a couple happy hour mixers here and have enjoyed my experience every time!

This place is so... sexy! Just SEXY! Everything about it is sexy; from the interior design to the atmosphere... the FOOD here is even sexy! How many more times can I say sexy? You better start counting ;). 1300 Fillmore is my favorite bar in the Fillmore district! I usually put on my big girl heels and my vivacious red lipstick when I roll into this joint. From outside, this place is easy to miss and is hidden on the corner of Fillmore and Eddy Street. But once you open the door, you're in a whole different world. I came here on Christmas Eve and I was delighted to find out that they were open! They had a wonderful new age jazz band performing in the lounge area and their tunes radiated throughout the rest of the restaurant. I took a seat at their gorgeously decked out bar and ordered the Jazzberry cocktail. 1300 Fillmore specializes in Cajun and Creole style food and they offer pretty generous portion sizes. I just LOVE their bacon mac and cheese and have to get it when I stop in, but they were only offering a prix fixe dinner menu that night. The bartender was able to get me a bowl of their Bourbon mac and cheese which ended up being just as tasty. They have killer Thursday night happy hour (not sure if they have it every night, but I've only come for their happy hour on Thursdays) and I've heard that they also have an awesome brunch. I really love the variety of specialty cocktails that they have here. The bathrooms are always clean and well maintained and their lounge area is packed with comfy sofa seats and chairs. This place stays pretty busy and there isn't a parking garage nearby, so you are limited to street parking. I've usually been able to find a decent parking spot on the street. I love their selection of late night music and it's always a treat when they have live artists performing in the lounge. So ladies; strap on those high heels, put on your favorite red lipstick, and squeeze that body into that tight little black dress in the back of your closet. Fellas; vest up, button up, and put on your most seductive cologne and head on over for a sexy night at 1300!

Lemons: With our first real vacation set to begin on Saturday, my husband came home Friday night with a toothache. Dang. Cancelled the carefully selected dinner reservations. Cancelled the hotel, which requires 2 wk cancellation so no refund, double dang. Our college-aged-recently- home- for- the summer kid has already invited a bunch of people over for Saturday, triple dang (or more honestly Oh f*ck). So I guess we need to find refuge elsewhere. Lemonade: Found a reasonably priced room at The Buchannan, a small hotel in Japantown recently taken over by the Kimpton group. Was able to get a reservation at a bookmarked restaurant within walking distance! Feeling a little better. The ambiance of 1300 was cooool. High ceilings and modern furnishings usually results in LOUD, but with the sensible addition of carpet here, it was quiet enough to have a good conversation. We started with cocktails. My sazerac was delicious and got me into a proper Southern state of mind. We started out pleasantly surprised by our Shrimp hush puppies. I think we both expected doughy hush puppy with pieces of shrimp incorporated, but what we got were perfectly executed sweet and succulent prawns that were coated with a hush puppy batter and deep fried with a great remoulade sauce. Glad we hadn't prejudged. 5 stars We both got the LITTLE GEM SALAD with pickled basil seed, cranberries, pepitas, heirloom carrots & buttermilk dressing $12. As many foodies know, salads generally have the highest mark up of almost anything on the menu. The salad was not bad, but some of the lettuce wasn't properly trimmed and very lightly dressed with a swoosh of the promised buttermilk underneath, not really incorporated. I expected better for that price. 3 stars I got the highly touted DAVID'S FRIED CHICKEN $22 Do you know what a la carte means? Well in this case, it means nothing on the plate but the chicken. Other pix on Yelp showed mash potatoes and biscuits accompanying; I guess they've pared down -- too much in this case. $22 for fried chicken with only a fried lemon slice to accompany it seemed stingy. I must say, though, the chicken was very, very good. 4 stars T got the BBQ SHRIMP N' GRITS $18 the shrimp were tasty, but only 5-6 of them. The grits were a perfect texture, but a little bland, but the sauce/gravy was divinely velvety, obviously a good roux to start and deeeeep flavor. 4 stars We were going to pass on dessert, but both fans of key lime pie, decided to give it a try. Should have passed this time. It was more like a cheesecake with a slight lime flavor. 2 stars. Service was pleasant, knowledgeable and prompt. We went at 6:30, but even so it seemed pretty empty for a Friday night. It looks like a great place to listen to music and I liked the feel of it. Food: 36/40 Service: 17/20 Atm/intangibles: 18/20 Value: 16/20 Overall: 87/100 B+

Came to 1300 on Fillmore for an after-Kabuki movie event & couldn't have been more impressed Loved, loved, loved their drinkys! Mr & I got the Violet Fog which was violet liqueur, sparkling wine & lavender bitters.....totally outstanding Buddy got the Strawberry-Basil-Lemonade & it was likewise outstanding w/ it's sweet-tartness & the basil just took it over the top Appies included the Duck Dumpling w/ a poached duck egg on top of this duck-hash like thing that Buddy said was out of this world Fried Green Tomatoes w/ Stuffed Squash Blossoms - OMG this is the appie to get! Nice & crunchy coating on tender & perfectly fried tomotoes. The squash blossoms were stuffed w/ goat cheese & gave it a really nice couple layers of flavor & I'm still dreaming about this!! Corn Bread for the table was nice & dense & the homemade honey butter was perfect all slathered on top! Buddy chose the Shrimp & Grits as his entree & there were huge eye rolls - the shrimp were large & tasty while the grits were cheesy & almost pudding like, they were so creamy Mr & I split the Corn, Pea, Mushroom, & Asiago Farro - I had asked if they could hold the mint since mint is a total showstopper for me & thankfully they were happy to do it b/c this dish was incredible! Nice black peppery flavor & nutty from the farro, I loved how the freshness of the corn & peas countered the savory mushrooms. Be sure to have them leave out the mint for you too! You can thank me later!! We also got the Truffled Mac N Cheese & would have to recommend to pass on this. The smoked gouda totally overpowered the truffle & gave it a hammy taste which I did not care for......but that said, if you like smoke, you'll love this dish Desserts were the Chocolate Filled Beignets for everyone - came w/ a coffee-soda & chocolate dipping sauces. Buddy discovered if you dipped it in the coffee then the chocolate, it was awesome. Just the coffee sauce? Not so much.....but luckily these people know what they're doing when it comes to piecing together fantastic desserts Can't wait to come back & enjoy more Southern goodness - pre-Fillmore; pre-Kabuki; pre-Yoshi's.....you can't go wrong!

BIRTHDAY SHOUT OUT TO MY BEAUTIFUL MODEL FRIEND, JEANETTE D. Came here for her 20th birthday. Long story short, it was supposed to be a big group surprise but her boyfriend epic failed and totally brought her there before everyone arrived. Awkwardly said surprise as small groups made their way there... and...... took IG pictures together by the bar area. haha Anyways. Let's begin shall we? ~.:: Atmosphere ::.~ I walked in feeling like the Queen of England. Red carpets and camera flashing from every angle. Ok. Maybe not. But it was still super fancy. There were two big doors as you entered to the reception area. It was dimly lit and I felt like it was a whole Gatsby era kinda of feel. Decor was spot on and super classy. The seats were super comfy as we took over a section of the restaurant with the couches on one side of the table and chairs on the other. ~.:: Food ::.~ First time having soul food I would say. But my roommate is from Louisiana so when he says its pretty good, I choose to believe him. Everything he liked, I shall label it... L APPROVED! (Louisiana approved). 1300 takes the traditional soul food and "dresses it up" and refines it to a super swanky dish. Cornbread: complimentary! There are different types of cornbread and this happens to be a dry crumble of cornbread here. It went really well with the honey butter and the jalapeno jelly. It was a good use of the fruitiness of the jalapeno! I know it sounds super weird, but i promise u it's not spicy. It's really interesting. Although I personally like the more moist type of cornbread, I understand there's different types of ways its made. Barbecue shrimp n grits $15: an amazing mesh of ground corn slow cooked with barbecued shrimps laid on top. If i was a selfish person, I would have gobbled this whole, but I decided to be a nice friend and shared with everyone! And everyone liked it! L APPROVED! http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/1300-on-fillmore-san-francisco?select=EcDZU1BpLq1VVsG8J5ke4w#4GJOkhQIZguvcBQnLHym1w Black skillet roasted catfish $25: Andouille Sausage & Shrimp Jambalaya Cornbread Panzanella Salad under a skillet roasted catfish. A small kick of spice that went pretty well with the jambalaya. The jambalaya was a little bland but the sausage made it better. L APPROVED! http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/1300-on-fillmore-san-francisco?select=EcDZU1BpLq1VVsG8J5ke4w#RFACvStukOc70zE8AyD3Iw Ribeye burger $15: came with House Made BBQ Potato Chips. My yelp friend, Tommy N., had this and said that it was a very tender well cut meat with the tomato sauce, but he wished that it came with more of it because it was so good yet scarce. ~.::Service::.~ Our waitress was amazing. She was sweet and super friendly about everything. We were all a bit late due to traffic but the receptionist was super nice about it when we called her. No attitude from her whatsoever. However, prices were a bit too much for me, so it's a good one time thing to try.
